The Varvel family has moved!

But not to the beach! 😜 We moved to the mountains of Tennessee, north of Chattanooga. (Although, we are only 6 hours from the beach now!) The last year has been such an amazing, yet terrifying journey as the Lord led us to leave everything we have known behind and start over somewhere completely new! To read specifically how God guided our path to start this new adventure, read Christina’s blog post, “Get Out of the Way.”

We have loved exploring Chattanooga and all the outdoor adventures it offers, being surrounded by God’s creation. We also have found a church that is passionate about the Word of God and being followers of Jesus Christ. The kids are making friends and getting plugged in. Kherington (14) has joined the Student Ministries’ worship team and continues to take piano lessons. Damon (11) is pumped to play flag football for the first time. Reagan and Roman (5) are as wild as ever but have adjusted well to the move to Tennessee, especially exploring the woods in our backyard. Christina continues to homeschool and loves the adventures and variety it offers, especially taking the “classroom” outside to discover and learn.

Between supporting Brett’s calling in filmmaking and caring for the kids, Christina continues her passion for writing. She shares what God is teaching her through His Word and how the gospel and life experiences intersect on her blog, “Christina’s Couch.” She has had several opportunities to speak, sharing her testimony of God’s comfort and hope after losing their two boys to miscarriages. If you haven’t yet read her book, Living Hope, you can find it here. She has another book in progress to come, about how to comfort someone who has lost a baby.

Meanwhile, the Lord has significantly blessed Brett in his acting and directing career. The Lord has rewarded his faithfulness and endurance through many trials, and He has continued to open doors for him to use his gifts and share the gospel through film. Our latest film, Disciples in the Moonlight, was in theaters in the summer of 2024, and it is streaming on Angel Studios as of October 16th. You can also watch it on many platforms, including Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play, Tubi TV, and Fandango at Home. The Lord has used this film to impact many people, and we pray that it continues to lift high the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
