My Story

Welcome to my couch.
Not an actual couch (although mine has plenty of stories to tell), but a place where we can have honest conversations about life—the beautiful, messy, joyful, painful, ordinary, and unexpected moments we all experience.
I never imagined I would become a writer. But looking back, maybe the Lord was preparing me for it all along.
I have been a lover of books for as long as I can remember. Ask my husband, Brett, what his first impression was of me when we met in seventh grade, and he will answer without hesitation: bookworm.

If the teacher wasn’t talking, my nose was stuck in a book…and I was probably rolling my eyes at the class clown trying, once again, to make everyone laugh.

That class clown and bookworm fell in love during our junior year of high school. After 18 years of marriage, one of the many reasons I continue falling in love with Brett is because he still makes me laugh every single day.
But my love for writing did not begin with the dream of becoming an author—it began with a journal, a Bible, and a desire to process life with the Lord.
As I spent time reading God’s Word and praying, I began writing down my thoughts, emotions, questions, struggles, and prayers. What started as private journal entries became a place where I could bring my whole heart before God — the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Over time, those pages became a testimony of His faithfulness.
Then grief entered my story in a way I never expected when I lost two children consecutively in my womb. While many people understandably want to forget the details of painful seasons, writing through my grief helped me safely acknowledge my pain, bring my questions to God, and process the sorrow I was experiencing in real time.
As I prayed and cried out to the Lord, He met me in my grief and gave me glimpses of His truth and healing through the words I wrote.
The result was my first book, Living Hope — but even more than a book, it was evidence of God’s healing power and His faithful presence in my darkest moments.

Since then, through writing, speaking, and storytelling, my desire is to provide hope and encouragement by intersecting the Truth found in God’s Word with our life experiences. Our journeys may look different, but there is one constant: Jesus Christ.

Whether we are walking through grief, joy, motherhood, marriage, suffering, uncertainty, or the ordinary moments of everyday life, my prayer is that we see Jesus in the middle of it all.
When we experience His love, grace, and presence, our faith, trust, and love for Him grows—resulting in radical transformation.

About Me

I am a wife to Brett, a film director and actor, and a mom to six children, four with us and two already in the arms of our Heavenly Father. I am also a registered dietitian nutritionist, homeschool mom, church counselor, and passionate encourager of women.

My years studying nutrition have deepened my fascination with the way God intricately created us—body, mind, and soul—and how each part impacts the other. I am continually amazed by the connection between our physical health, emotional well-being, and spiritual lives.

I have also personally walked through seasons of chronic health challenges since my teenage years, which has given me a deeper compassion for those navigating suffering, uncertainty, and the limitations we sometimes experience in our bodies.

Outside of writing, you’ll usually find my nose still stuck in a book, hiking the Tennessee trails, cooking up plant-based recipes, traveling to new locations for Brett's film projects, working out, spending time with family and friends, or sitting on my couch (of course).

There is always an open seat, and I’d love for you to join me.
